Abbas Kiarostami, the most celebrated Iranian filmmaker and one of the most prominent filmmakers in the world, passed away on Monday 4th July at the age of 76. Although he will be immensely missed, his remarkable films will forever be alive and time and time again remind us of tranquility of life.

Born in Iran, Kiarostami made over forty impressive films including CLOSE UP, THE WIND WILL CARRY US, TEN and CERTIFIED COPY to name a few. His unique style of combination of simple visuals with amazing life stories, created poetry on screen. For this he reached world fame and won numerous international awards including a Palme d’Or at Cannes for his beloved Taste of Cherry in 1997.
