John Gray

Composer

John Gray is a multi-award winning screen composer, having written scores for award winning feature films, documentaries and streaming/television series – some of which have been finalists and winners at The Emmys, Sundance, Montreal, Venice, Berlin, IDFA, HOTDOCS and Sydney international film festivals.

A graduate of AFTRS, his drama features include the AFI-nominated KOKODA, THE BET and WHAT LOLA WANTS. He also composed for the critically acclaimed documentary THE OPPOSITION, the Emmy Award winning SBS series GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM, the AACTA-Nominated documentary I AM A GIRL, the ABC documentary series GREAT SOUTHERN LAND and the documentary Audience Award Winner at the 2014 Sydney Film Festival LOVE MARRIAGE IN KABUL. He was nominated for an AACTA for his score on the latest installment of the critically acclaimed mini-series BLUE MURDER.

He has also released albums, toured nationally in rock bands, and created experimental work for dance, installations and radio airplay.

John is a twice-previous board member of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) and enjoys advocating on behalf of both emerging composers and his peers.
