Amanda Brown is a screen music composer, musician and songwriter from Sydney, Australia. She has been writing music for stage and screen since graduating from AFTRS in 2000, and before that enjoyed a career as a multi-instrumentalist in several bands, most notably The Go Betweens.
Amanda’s screen music credits include feature films Here Out West, Brazen Hussies and Babyteeth. Amanda has scored multiple drama series, including Deadloch, Prosper (with Antonio Gambale), The Secrets She Keeps and RFDS.
Amanda has won AACTA music awards in each category of Feature Film, Television and Documentary. She shared the 2024 APRA/AGSC Award for Best Song with Damien Lane and Radical Son for their song ‘Carry You’. Amanda has attained APRA/AGSC awards in the categories of Television Series and Documentary, and was the first Australian to win the Soundtrack Stars Critics Award at the Venice Film Festival for Babyteeth. In 2024, she was presented with the Don Banks Award for Music for her outstanding and sustained contribution to music in Australia.
Amanda is a writer-director on the AMCOS board and a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences. In 2025, she was elected President of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers.
