Mehdi Davachi (b. 1993) is an independent Iranian filmmaker who took an unconventional path to cinema, transitioning from a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (Shiraz University) to pursuing an MA in Cinema at Sooreh University, Tehran. Known for his formalist visual style and focus on marginalised social dynamics, Davachi has written and directed three acclaimed shorts: Aram’s Situation, The Pledge, and Italiano.
