Farnoosh Samadi was born in Iran and is graduated of multimedia arts from Fine Art Academy in Rome, Italy. She started her career as a filmmaker at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society and she made several video installations earlier in her career. She has directed & written scripts for several noticeable short films. Her scripts for the short film “More Than Two Hours” directed by Ali Asgari, was a great success and was nominated for a Palme d’Or at Cannes 2013 and a Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival. On her next experience with Asgari, she wrote the script for another short film called “The baby”, which was premiered in Venice Film Festival 2014. As the co-director and coscreenwriter, she made her first short film, “The Silence” in 2016. It was nominated for a Palme d’Or at Cannes. She solely directed her second short film, “Gaze”, which had its world premiere in competition of Locarno Film Festival 2017 and was qualified for Oscar 2018. She has appeared as the jury member of Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain, Curtas Vila do Conde in Portugal and several Prominent Film Festivals. In 2018, She became a member of the Oscar Academy. "180 ° Rule " is the name of her first feature film, which was premiered in Toronto Film Festival 2020.
